Artie'S Barbecue Sauce(Spoon This On Any Meat After It'S Cooked)
- 1/4 c. olive oil
- 3 c. chopped onions
- 1 c. chopped bell pepper
- 1/2 c. chopped parsley
- 1 c. dry white wine
- 2 Tbsp. wine vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. garlic, minced
- 2 c. tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. honey
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- salt to taste
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. liquid smoke
- hot sauce or ground cayenne pepper to taste
- Heat olive oil in large saucepan over medium heat.
- Saute the onions, bell peppers and parsley until onions are clear.
- Add the wine vinegar, tomato sauce, hot sauce or cayenne pepper, garlic, honey and lemon juice.
- Mix well.
- Cover pot.
- Turn heat down to low and simmer 1 hour.
- Add salt, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke; stir well.
- Cover and simmer at least 2 more hours, stirring occasionally.
