Pepper Steak
- 1 lb. stew beef, cut into bite size pieces
- 2 Tbsp. oleo
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
- 1 large green pepper, cut in strips
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 c. cold water
- 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
- Brown meat slowly in butter.
- Add onion and garlic last few minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water.
- Add to meat.
- Cover and simmer until almost tender. Add tomatoes and green pepper; cook 10 minutes.
- Now combine cornstarch, cold water and soy sauce.
- Stir into meat, bring to a boil and stir for 5 minutes.
- Remove garlic.
- Serve this over rice or noodles.
- Serves 6.
