Apple And Coconut Braid
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 apple
- 2 1/8 tablespoons butter
- 5 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- grated coconut
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 200u0b0C (approximately 400u0b0F).
- Peel apple and cut into thin slices.
- Heat apple slices, sugar, cinnamon and butter in a saucepan until apples are al dente.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Reserve syup from cooked apples.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on baking sheet.
- Sprinkle grated coconut and apple slices over the middle third of pastry sheet.
- Cut the sides of pastry into horizontal strips and place in a crisscross pattern over the filling by alternating strips from each side.
- Brush the pastry with some of the reserved syrup from cooked apples.
- Bake in preheated oven on the middle rack until lightly browned for about 20 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack.
