Blackberry Bbq Sauce
- 2 cups blackberries fresh
- 1 cup chicken /beef stock
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 lemon juice only
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- salt to taste
- Add the chicken stock and blackberries to a medium sauce pan over high heat. Bring to boil, then reduce heat, simmering and stirring until the berries start to break down. Mash the berries as they break down.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Transfer berries to blender and mix until smooth.
- Place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and press the berry mixture through. Discard seeds and transfer the sauce back to the saucepan.
- Add remaining ingredients and cook over medium-low heat until the sauce is thick and coats the spoon. Taste for seasoning and adjust as needed.
