Pretzel Surprise Salad
- 3/4 c. butter, melted
- 2 1/4 c. crushed pretzels
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 3 (8 oz.) boxes frozen strawberries, thawed
- 1 (15 1/2 oz.) can pineapple chunks
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry gelatin
- 1 large carton whipped topping
- Combine butter, pretzels and 1/4 cup sugar in a 9 x 13-inch pan, mixing and spreading over bottom.
- Blend cream cheese, whipped topping and 1 1/2 cups sugar in bowl.
- Spread over pretzel layer.
- Drain the strawberries and pineapple reserving juices. Combine reserved juices with enough boiling water to measure 2 cups.
- Dissolve gelatin in hot juice mixture in bowl.
- Stir in 2 cups ice and water.
- Chill until thickened.
- Fold in fruit. Spread over cream cheese layer.
- Garnish with pecans.
- Chill until firm.
