Pretzel Surprise Salad

  1. Combine butter, pretzels and 1/4 cup sugar in a 9 x 13-inch pan, mixing and spreading over bottom.
  2. Blend cream cheese, whipped topping and 1 1/2 cups sugar in bowl.
  3. Spread over pretzel layer.
  4. Drain the strawberries and pineapple reserving juices. Combine reserved juices with enough boiling water to measure 2 cups.
  5. Dissolve gelatin in hot juice mixture in bowl.
  6. Stir in 2 cups ice and water.
  7. Chill until thickened.
  8. Fold in fruit. Spread over cream cheese layer.
  9. Garnish with pecans.
  10. Chill until firm.
