Tuna Mornay Pasta Bake
- 300 grams dried pasta any variety
- 2 slices day old bread crusts removed, coarsely torn
- 50 grams unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons plain flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cups grated cheese coarsely
- 425 grams tuna in spring water drained
- 1 cup frozen peas
- canola oil spray
- Preheat the oven to 180 C. Lightly grease a 2 litre capacity oven proof dish.
- Cook the pasta as per the directions on the packet, drain and set aside in a large bowl.
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and cook stirring for 1 minute or until foaming. Remove from the heat and gradually add the milk. Place over medium heat and stir continuously until the mixture thickens. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup of the cheese and stir until melted.
- Add the cheese mixture, tuna and peas to the pasta and stir until well combined. Spoon into the greased dish.
- Combine the bread and remaining cheese in a bowl. Sprinkle over the pasta.
- Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden.
