Old Fashioned Fruit Cake

  1. Cut up nuts, cherries and pineapple.
  2. Cover with 1 cup flour (plain).
  3. Add cake spices to mixture and set aside.
  4. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add soda to syrup and stir into butter mixture.
  5. Add flour and wine alternately, small amount at a time, until ingredients are completely mixed.
  6. Stir in fruit mixture.
  7. Bake at 275u0b0 in 2 (9 or 10-inch) cake pans for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
