Broccoli-Onion Deluxe

  1. In a saucepan melt half the butter.
  2. Blend in flour, salt and dash of pepper.
  3. Add milk.
  4. Cook, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
  5. Reduce heat.
  6. Blend in cream cheese until smooth.
  7. Place vegetables in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  8. Pour sauce mixture over and mix lightly.
  9. Top with American cheese.
  10. Melt remaining butter.
  11. Toss with bread crumbs.
  12. Sprinkle on top of casserole.
  13. Bake at 350u0b0 until heated through for 40 to 45 minutes.
  14. Makes 6 servings.
