Applesauce Brownie Cake
- FOR THE CAKE:
- 1/2 cups Shortening
- 1-1/2 cup Sugar
- 2 whole Eggs
- 2 Tablespoons Cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon
- 1 can (18 To 24 Oz.) Applesauce
- 2 cups Flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- _____
- NUT TOPPING:
- 8 ounces, weight Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 cups Chopped Nuts (Pecans Or Walnuts Recommended)
- 2 Tablespoons White Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Make sure you add everything in the order given! So, cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs, cocoa, cinnamon, and applesauce. Then sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt; add to the creamed mixture. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
- Mix topping together and carefully and evenly spread over the top of the cake. You'll probably have topping leftover, but if you're like me you'll just add it anyway. Hey, who counts calories? (No talking if you do...)
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. I like serving it warm with vanilla ice cream! Mmm ... enjoy!
