Toffee Squares
- 1-1/2 cup Butter, Room Temperature
- 1-1/2 cup Brown Sugar, Packed
- 2 whole Egg Yolks
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 3 cups Flour
- 12 ounces, weight Chocolate Chips
- 3/4 cups Chopped Waluts (optional)
- 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- 2. With a mixer, cream butter and brown sugar over medium speed. Slowly add egg and vanilla.
- 3. Gradually add flour to mix on medium-low speed. Batter should be thick/stiff.
- 4. Spread batter evenly in a 9x13 inch pan.
- 5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a light golden brown.
- 6. Remove bars from oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top. Place the pan back in the oven for 2 minutes to melt the chocolate.
- 7. Remove the pan from the oven and spread the melted chocolate evenly across the bars. If desired, add chopped walnut pieces. Let cool completely.
- 8. Using a sharp knife, cut bars into squares.
