Apple Slices
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 3/4 cups Shortening
- 2 whole Egg Yolks
- 1/2 cups Cold Water
- 24 ounces, weight Prepared Apple Pie Filling (2 Cans)
- Cinnamon, To Taste
- 1/4 cups Butter
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- Milk, Enough To Reach Frosting Consistency
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Put apples in a bowl and mix with cinnamon. Set aside.
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening.
- Add in egg yolks and water. Mix with a fork until the dough comes together.
- Cut dough into two equal pieces. Roll out one half to fit the bottom and sides of a 9" x 13" cake pan.
- Fill the bottom dough with the apple pie filling/cinnamon mixture. Put pieces of butter on top of the apples evenly across the pan.
- Roll out the other half of the dough to cover the top of the apples. Put the top crust on over the apples and crimp or pinch the bottom and top crusts together to seal.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 450 degrees.
- Turn the oven down to 325 degrees and bake for 30 more minutes.
- When done, drizzle with frosting (1 cup of powdered sugar mixed with a little milk to form a fairly thick frosting that can be drizzled).
- Cool to room temperature then store in the refrigerator.
