Charlotte Brownies
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 stick Butter, Melted (8 Tablespoons)
- 4 whole Eggs
- 16 ounces, weight Hershey's Chocolate Syrup (1 Can)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 cup Flour
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1 cup Chopped Nuts (optional)
- 6 ounces, weight Chocolate Chips, Divided
- _____
- FROSTING
- 1-1/3 cup Sugar
- 6 Tablespoons Butter
- 6 Tablespoons Milk
- Combine butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix well. Add chocolate syrup and mix well. Add vanilla. Add flour and salt and mix well. Add nuts, if desired.
- Reserve 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips for the frosting. Add remaining chips to the batter. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 25-30 minutes.
- To make the frosting, combine 1 1/3 cups sugar, 6 tablespoons of butter and 6 tablespoons of milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat and boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the reserved 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Stir until chips are melted. Wait a couple of minutes until the frosting starts to slightly firm up, then spread over cooled brownies (frosting will harden up as it cools).
- Note: The frosting should go on the brownies once they're cool, but it will harden as it cools up, so do not start the frosting until after the brownies are cooled.
- Cut into small squares. These are very rich.
