Grilled Okra
- 8 ounces, weight Onion And Chives Cream Cheese
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Finely Chopped Jalapenos
- 24 spears Small, Tender, Fresh Okra
- 12 slices Bacon, Cut In Half
- 24 pieces Toothpicks
- Mix cream cheese, garlic powder and jalapenos in a medium-sized bowl and set aside.
- Wash and cut your okra in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the inside membrane and seeds, keeping the two halves side by side because you're going to put them together in a minute. Fill the halves of your okra with cream cheese mixture. Place your halves together, wrap 1/2 of a slice of bacon around the okra and secure with a toothpick. Try to cover as much of the okra as you can with the bacon. Set them on a tray while you preheat your grill to medium heat.
- Grill for 6-10 minutes, turning often. Watch carefully and don't let your bacon burn. Some of your cream cheese will escape but don't worry. When done remove the okra to a try and let it cool. Pull out the toothpicks and enjoy.
