Baked Apple Dumplings

  1. Mix the first four ingredients with enough milk to make a soft dough.
  2. Pare the apples (about 8 tart ones), cut in half and core. Divide the dough into 8 balls and roll each ball into a circle. Place 2 apple halves on each circle.
  3. Put 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon on each apple.
  4. Pull dough up and wrap each apple well.
  5. Place in a baking pan.
  6. Place small pat of butter on top of each dumpling.
  7. Place 1 teaspoon brown sugar on butter and sprinkle cinnamon over all dumplings.
  8. Drizzle Karo syrup over all and add about 1/4 cup water to bottom of pan.
  9. Bake at 375u0b0 until apples are tender and pastry is golden brown.
