Speedy Orange Rolls
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 to 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter, softened
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- Orange Filling
- Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl and let stand 5 minutes.
- Add 1 cup flour and next 4 ingredients.
- Beat at medium speed with mixer until smooth.
- Stir in remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth (about 2 minutes).
- Cover and let stand 15 minutes.
- Roll dough into a 14 x 7-inch rectangle; spread with 1/2 of Orange Filling, leaving a 1 inch margin on long sides.
- Roll jelly roll fashion, starting at long side.
- Pinch seam.
- Cut into 12 equal slices.
- Place cut-side down in greased muffin pans. Cover and let rise in warm place, free from drafts, 30 minutes. Bake at 400u0b0 for 16 to 18 minutes.
- Spread remaining Orange Filling over tops of rolls.
- Yield:
- 12 rolls.
