Candy Cane Cookies

  1. Combine butter, confectioners sugar, egg and flavorings. Blend well.
  2. Mix in flour and salt.
  3. Divide dough in half.
  4. Blend food color into 1/2 of the dough.
  5. Shape 1 teaspoon dough from each half into a 4-inch rope.
  6. For smooth even ropes, roll them back and forth on lightly floured boards.
  7. Place ropes side by side.
  8. Press together at top and twist.
  9. Complete cookies, one at a time.
  10. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  11. Bake at 375u0b0 for about 9 minutes, until set.
