Marble Squares

  1. For the cream cheese mixture, combine softened cream cheese and sugar, mixing until well blended. Add one egg and mix well in a bowl.
  2. For the chocolate batter, combine margarine, water and unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Combine flour and sugar and stir in. Add the eggs, sour cream, soda and salt; mix well. Pour into a greased and floured 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" pan.
  3. Spoon cheese mixture over chocolate batter. Cut through batter with a knife several times for a marbled effect. Sprinkle with chocolate pieces.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into the center comes out clean.
