Grandma Thomson’S Thrutkies
- 1/2 pounds Butter
- 1/4 pounds Margarine
- 1 pound Flour
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 teaspoons Vanilla
- 1-1/2 pound Hoop Cheese Or Farmers Cheese, Shredded
- 6 cups Ground Walnuts
- 1 container Preserves, 12 Ounce Jar (either Apricot Or Strawberry)
- Mix butter, margarine, flour, sugar, vanilla together. Keep dough in refrigerator overnight.
- After the dough has refrigerated overnight, take it out of the fridge, and start making small balls (a little smaller than a golf ball - I use a Tablespoon full) out of the dough.
- After you make your balls, roll each one out into a flat disc, and add hoop cheese and nuts and a Tablespoon of preserves (or more if you'd like) into the center of the disc.
- Then roll the discs up. Seal edges by pinching them together (you can add a little water too, if you need some adhesive) and bake at 350 degrees F until golden brown (roughly 8 - 10 minutes).
- *Hoop cheese is also known as farmers cheese.
