Orange Candy Cake

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time; cream well after each addition.
  3. Dissolve soda in buttermilk, then add alternately to creamed mixture with 3 1/2 cups flour.
  4. Mix remaining 1/2 cup flour with dates, candy and nuts.
  5. Add to batter with coconut.
  6. Pour batter into 10-inch tube pan that has been greased and floured.
  7. Bake at 250u0b0 for 3 hours.
  8. Combine orange juice and powdered sugar; mix well.
  9. Pour over hot cake in pan. Let stand in pan overnight.
  10. Remove from pan.
