Christmas Cookies
- 1/3 c. soft shortening (part butter)
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 2/3 c. honey (clover)
- 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 3 c. sifted Gold Medal flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- Mix shortening, sugar, egg, honey and flavoring thoroughly. Sift together flour, soda and salt and stir in.
- Chill dough. Heat oven to 375u0b0 (quick moderate).
- Roll dough out 1/4-inch thick.
- Cut into desired shapes.
- Place 1 inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until no imprint remains when touched lightly with finger.
- When cool, ice and decorate as desired.
- Makes about 5 dozen.
- I make about 1000 of these for Christmas to give away.
- I always double this recipe.
- I will stir them up one day and put dough in refrigerator and bake them the next day.
