Spritz Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
  2. In a mixer, cream together butter, cream cheese and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, milk and both extracts and blend until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Then, gradually add flour mixture into the creamed mixture, blending well after each addition. Do not chill dough yet.
  4. Add dough to a cookie press with the desired stencil on it. Squeeze the cookies out onto a greased cookie sheet or silpat and decorate with desired items (I use casting sugar or decorative sugar, but there are countless ways to decorate them, depending on the shape of the cookies you pick.)
  5. Bake for 10 minutes or just until the edges start to brown. Move to cooling rack.
  6. After the first batch, you may indeed need to keep the dough that's not being used at that moment in the fridge. If the dough gets too soft from the heat of the oven/cookie sheet, they don't want to come off the cookie press correctly. Enjoy!
