German Tree Cake Bites (Petit Fours)

  1. Turn the broiler of your oven on low. Coat an 8x8 inch baking pan or casserole dish with tin foil, then spray it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients (except the chocolate) with an electric mixer until very smooth. Now place 3-4 tablespoons (the one you use for eating, not the measuring kind) of the batter in your baking dish. Brush the dough out evenly.
  3. Put under the broiler for about 3 minutes (always have an eye on it and don't let it burn; it should just be slightly golden on top). Take out of the oven and place 3-4 more tablespoons on it, repeat the broiling process. Go on like that until all batter is used (about 7-9 layers).
  4. Take out of the form and let cool completely. Cut cooled cake into 1-inch bite-sized pieces.
  5. Melt chocolate in the microwave and brush each piece with chocolate. Let chocolate set before serving.
  6. Best results are being reached after letting them rest and develop their flavors for 3 days.
