Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies
- 1-1/4 cup All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 cups Old Fashioned Oatmeal
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/2 cups Butter, Softened At Room Temperature
- 2/3 cups Brown Sugar (lightly Packed)
- 1 whole Egg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 4 ounces, weight Milk Chocolate Or Dark Chocolate Bar, Broken Into 1/2 Inch Pieces
- 1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0F.
- 2. Combine the flour, oatmeal, salt and baking soda in a small bowl; give it a whisk to mix.
- 3. In a large bowl cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- 4. Beat the egg and vanilla into the creamed butter and sugar.
- 5. Add the dry ingredients and mix well.
- 6. Once the dry ingredients are incorporated, stir in the chocolate pieces.
- 7. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased sheet pan. These cookies don't spread much, so press them down slightly with the back of a spoon to flatten the tops.
- 8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, just until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
- 9. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet pan for at least 5 minutes before transferring them to a rack to cool completely.
- Store in an airtight container.
