Steak Surprise

  1. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  2. Saute steak and onions in 1 tablespoon of butter until lightly browned.
  3. Add liquid from mushrooms, bay leaf and Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Cover, simmer gently 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
  5. Remove bay leaf.
  6. Combine steak with pan juices, mushrooms, soup, noodles, remaining butter, milk, water, salt and pepper.
  7. Put in 1 1/2-quart wide and shallow casserole dish.
  8. Sprinkle with croutons.
  9. Cover with cheese.
  10. Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 hour.
