Jane'S Goulash
- 1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
- 4 to 5 cheese slices or equivalent
- 1 large or 2 small cans mushroom bits and pieces
- 3 eggs, beaten slightly
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 large or 2 small cans tomato sauce or paste
- salt and pepper to taste
- Brown meat and drain off excess fat.
- Add onions, celery and pepper
- and
- cook
- about
- 5 minutes or until browned.
- Add mushrooms,
- cheese and eggs and stir to mix well.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer 5 minutes.
- Add tomato sauce and small amount
- of
- water;
- cover
- and
- simmer
- on low heat for 1 hour. Serve over rice or spaghetti with garlic bread and salad.
- This has been my children's favorite meal through the years.
