Mud Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and vanilla; beat until creamy.
  5. Add egg; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture; mix well.
  6. Stir in 1 1/3 cups chocolate chips and the nuts.
  7. Spread into foil lined 9-inch square baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining chips on top.
  10. Allow to stand until chips become shiny. Spread with spatula.
  11. Let cool.
  12. Chill 5 to 10 minutes to set chocolate.
  13. Cut into bars.
