Mud Bars
- 1 c. plus 2 measuring Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and vanilla; beat until creamy.
- Add egg; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture; mix well.
- Stir in 1 1/3 cups chocolate chips and the nuts.
- Spread into foil lined 9-inch square baking pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle remaining chips on top.
- Allow to stand until chips become shiny. Spread with spatula.
- Let cool.
- Chill 5 to 10 minutes to set chocolate.
- Cut into bars.
