Creme Brulee French Toast Casserole With Drunken Strawberries
- FOR THE FRENCH TOAST:
- 1 loaf Challah Bread
- 1 cup Brown Sugar, Packed (light Or Dark)
- 2 Tablespoons Light Corn Syrup
- 1 stick Butter, Unsalted
- 5 whole Eggs
- 1-1/2 cup Half-and-Half Cream
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Grand Marnier, Optional

- FOR THE STRAWBERRIES:
- 1 cup Sliced Fresh Strawberries
- 1 Tablespoon White Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Grand Marnier
- Creme Brulee French Toast
- Slice Challah bread into 6 slices, approximately 3/4 inch thick.
- In microwave safe bowl or on stove top over low heat, melt brown sugar, corn syrup and butter together, stirring frequently. Pour syrup into a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, swirling to ensure entire bottom of dish is coated. Place Challah slices in dish, in one layer. Cut into small pieces if necessary.
- Whisk together eggs, half and half, vanilla, salt, and Grand Marnier until thoroughly mixed. Pour mixture over Challah covering each piece. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.
- Note: You can omit the Grand Marnier if you wish, however it brings a great flavor to the dish.
- Combine strawberries, sugar and Grand Marnier in a small bowl, stirring to thoroughly coat berries. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Note: If you wish to not use the alcohol, simply omit the Grand Marnier and follow instructions.
- To bake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove plastic wrap on your bread dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until bread is puffy and golden. Remove from oven and top with strawberries. No extra syrup is needed!
