Apple Fritters To Die For!

  1. Note: You may want to only use 1 1/2 apples depending on your love for chunks.
  2. In a bowl, stir together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a medium-sized bowl, combine egg whites, apples, and milk. Add to the flour mixture all at once and stir just until combined.
  3. In a large pot (safety first!), heat about an inch of oil over moderately high heat to 375u0b0F. Drop batter by heaping tablespoonfuls, about 4-5 per batch, into the hot oil. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden, turning only once.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on paper towels to absorb some of the excess oil. In a Ziploc, combine the sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon for the coating. Add the hot fritters, several at a time, and shake to coat. Serve immediately!
