Sicilian Meat Roll
- 2 lb. ground round
- 3 eggs, beaten lightly
- 1 1/2 tsp. oregano, crushed
- 1 Tbsp. parsley, chopped fine
- 1 tsp. basil, crushed
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 onion (medium) chopped fine
- 3/4 c. seasoned bread crumbs
- 1/2 to 1 c. red wine
- salt and pepper
- 8 to 12 oz. boiled ham, sliced
- 8 oz. Mozzarella, shredded
- Mix together the first 10 ingredients.
- Pat mixture into 12 x 9-inches on a large piece of wax paper or foil.
- Layer ham, then cheese over meat.
- Leave a 1-inch border.
- Roll like jelly roll from short end.
- Press ends and seam to seal.
- Put on lightly greased baking pan, seam side down.
- Smooth surface with spatula. Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Makes 8 to 10 servings.
