Christmas Lizzies
- 1 stick butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 3 c. flour
- 3 tsp. soda
- 3 Tbsp. buttermilk
- cheese glass cooking wine
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 6 c. pecans
- 3 c. white raisins
- 1/2 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 lb. candied cherries
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs; mix.
- Put 1 cup of sifted flour over nuts and raisins.
- Sift 2 cups of flour and spices together.
- Add soda, milk and cooking wine (or grape juice) to sugar mixture.
- Add flour and spices, then add candied fruit.
- Add nuts and raisins; mix well.
- Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 325u0b0 for 25 minutes (drop by teaspoonful).
- Mixture doesn't spread, so can be baked close together.
- Makes 10 dozen.
