Chai Tea

  1. Boil the water. You can use a teapot, a saucepan or heat in the microwave.
  2. Prepare two coffee mugs or one large latte mug with tea baskets.
  3. Using the side of a knife, or with a mortar and pestle, crack open the cardamom pods, and add them to the baskets along with the chopped fresh ginger. Distribute tea in baskets.
  4. Pour boiling water over the tea mixture and allow to steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove tea baskets and add milk. I like to use 1 sugar cube per serving also.
  6. If you do not have a tea basket, you can throw it all together in one mug and then pour through a sieve into another mug when the tea has finished steeping.
  7. Mmm! One of my favorite beverages ... nothing sticky or syrupy about it, just simple pleasure!

actually, fresh ginger, black tea, milk, water, sugar
