Candy Cake
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 100 bit marshmallows
- 1/2 c. chocolate bits
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- Sift together, flour, baking powder and salt.
- Cream together, shortening and sugar, added gradually.
- Beat in one egg, continue beating 1 minute.
- Combine buttermilk and vanilla; add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mix.
- Fold in marshmallows and chocolate bits.
- Spread in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Combine butter, brown sugar, nuts; sprinkle over batter and bake at 350u0b0 for 40 to 45 minutes.
- Serve from pan with ice cream or whipped cream.
