Walnut Crescents

  1. Blend together walnuts, 1/2 cup sugar and 2 egg whites; set aside.
  2. Sift together flour and 3 tablespoons sugar into mixing bowl.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Blend together egg yolks and 3 tablespoons milk.
  5. Add liquid to flour mixture, stirring until flour is moistened.
  6. Add more milk if necessary to make a soft dough.
  7. Turn
  8. out onto lightly floured board; divide in half.
  9. Roll out each half to 1/16-inch thick. Cut out circles with floured 3-inch cutter.
  10. Drop 1 teaspoonful walnut mixture in center of each circle.
  11. Fold in half; seal edges.
  12. Place on greased baking sheets and shape into crescents. Brush tops with egg white.
  13. Sprinkle with sugar.
