Stuffed Cabbage
- 1 generous lb. very lean ground beef (round or sirloin)
- scant 1/3 c. uncooked rice
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 onion, grated
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt (optional)
- dash of ground black pepper
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1/4 c. minced fresh parsley
- 10 or more leaves cabbage (large green leaves best)
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. wine vinegar
- 3/4 c. packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. dried basil
- water
- caraway seed
- Combine ground beef with rice, egg, onion, carrot, salt, garlic salt, pepper, garlic and parsley; set aside.
