Barbecue Sauce For Chicken
- 1/2 c. oleo
- 1/2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1 c. salad oil
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce
- 14 oz. bottle catsup
- 2 Tbsp. chili sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 3 drops Tabasco sauce
- Melt oleo in saucepan and add remaining ingredients, stirring constantly.
- Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Sauce may be stored in tightly closed jar in refrigerator for 1 week. Marinate chickens 5 to 6 hours in sauce (or overnight), then barbecue over medium coals for 1 1/2 hours, turning and basting occasionally.
- Makes enough sauce for 2 to 3 whole chickens.
