Easy And Elegant Steak
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 2 lb. beef round steak, cut into strips
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 soup can water
- 3/4 c. red wine or beef broth
- 1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 large green pepper, cut in strips
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- cooked rice
- In a large skillet, heat oil on high.
- Brown meat on all sides. Drain any excess oil.
- Combine soup, water and wine or broth.
- Pour over steak.
- Cover and simmer 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Meanwhile, toss all remaining ingredients together and place on top of steak. Cover and continue to simmer until the meat is tender, about 1 hour.
- Serve with rice.
- Yields 6 to 8 servings.
