Whole Wheat Applesauce Bars
- FOR THE BARS:
- 1/3 cups Butter, Softened
- 2/3 cups Brown Sugar, Packed
- 2 whole Eggs
- 3/4 teaspoons Ground Allspice
- 1/2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/4 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 2/3 cups Cinnamon Applesauce
- 1/3 cups Walnuts
- 1/3 cups Golden Raisins

- FOR THE FROSTING:
- 1/2 cups Butter, Softened
- 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8 or 9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, eggs and allspice until well blended. In another bowl, whisk together both flours and baking soda. Add to the butter mixture, mixing well. Combine the applesauce, walnuts and raisins with the rest, mixing well.
- Pour and spread in the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
- While the bars are baking, make your cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl, cream butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla and mix. Slowly add powdered sugar until you get the desired thickness. Spread on top of the bars and cut.
