Homemade Chili
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 pound Ground Beef, 90/10
- 1 whole Medium Onion, Chopped
- 1 whole Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
- 1 whole Red Bell Pepper, chopped
- 4 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Chili Powder
- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Dried Oregano
- 1/2 teaspoons Paprika
- 1/4 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
- 2 cans (14.5 Oz. Can) Diced Tomatoes
- 1 can (8 Oz. Can) Tomato Sauce
- 3/4 cans (4 Oz. Can) Whole Black Olives, Sliced In Half Lengthwise
- 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Pinto Beans
- 1 whole Bay Leaf
- Optional Toppings Such As Grated Cheddar Cheese, Sliced Green Onions, And Sour Cream
- In a large, deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, add ground beef and cook until brown.
- Add onion, bell peppers, garlic, Worcestershire sauce and all the spices, except for the bay leaf, and stir to incorporate. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, or until onions and bell peppers are tender.
- Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, olives, pinto beans and bay leaf and bring to a simmer. Cover for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove and discard bay leaf. Serve with a sprinkling of grated cheddar cheese, sliced green onions and a dollop of sour cream, if desired. Best when accompanied with some cornbread.
