Christmas Morning Italian Strata
- 1 1/2 lb. pork sausage
- 1 (12 oz.) loaf French bread
- 2 (4 oz.) cans mushrooms
- 6 large eggs
- 1 qt. milk
- 2 tsp. Italian seasonings
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 (4 oz.) pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese
- chopped parsley for garnish
- Night Before Serving:
- Grease a 13 x 9-inch glass baking pan. In a 10-inch skillet, over medium heat, cook sausage, stirring frequently to break up meat, until done.
- Drain on paper towels. Cut French bread into 1/2-inch cubes.
- Drain and chop mushrooms. In a baking dish, combine sausage, bread cubes and mushrooms.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, Italian seasonings, garlic powder and pepper.
- Pour egg mixture over sausage mixture.
- Cover with wrap and refrigerate overnight.
