Easter Swirl Coffee Bread
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. (1/4 lb.) soft butter
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded and cooled
- 1/4 tsp. each salt and ground cardamon
- 3 c. unsifted regular all-purpose flour
- Chocolate Streusel Filling
- 3/4 c. chopped pecans
- Powdered Sugar Glaze
- Sprinkle yeast into warm water and let stand until dissolved. With an electric mixer, cream the butter until light and beat in sugar. Beat in egg yolks, then add yeast mixture, milk, salt and cardamon. Gradually mix in the flour, beating at low speed or by hand.
- Dough will be quite soft. Turn out on a floured board and knead until smooth. Return dough to bowl and butter the top lightly.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 1/2 hours.
