Chocolate Buttermilk Cake
- 2 cups Self-Rising Flour
- 2 cups Sugar
- 1 cup Butter
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cups Oil
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 container (16 Oz. Size) Cream Cheese Frosting (optional)
- Mix flour and sugar together in a medium sized mixing bowl and set aside.
- Melt butter and cocoa in a sauce pan over medium heat. Once melted, add water and oil and bring to a boil. Add this mixture to the flour/sugar mixture and mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk, and baking soda.
- Pour into a 9x13 pan or into a cupcake pan (fill 2/3 full). Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes, no longer. Cool before frosting.
- Use the icing or frosting of your choice. I prefer cream cheese frosting.
