Meatball Mushroom Sandwiches
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. Italian sausage (casing removed)
- 1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 tsp. dried oregano leaves, crushed
- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can Campbell's golden mushroom soup
- 1/2 c. water
- 4 long hard rolls (each 8 inches long), split lengthwise
- In medium bowl, combine beef, sausage, bread crumbs, egg and oregano.
- Mix lightly, but well.
- Shape into 16 (1 1/4-inch) meatballs.
- In 10-inch skillet over medium heat, in hot oil, cook meatballs 10 minutes or until browned on all sides.
- Spoon off fat. Stir in soup and water.
- Heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 10 minutes until meatballs are thoroughly cooked, stirring occasionally.
- Spoon 4 meatballs and about 1/4 cup of the sauce onto each roll.
- Makes 4 servings.
