Best Chili Ever
- 1 pound Beef, Chopped (chuck Steak) Or Hamburger Can Be Used As A Substitute
- 1/2 cups Diced Onion
- 16 ounces, weight Canned Red Beans
- 16 ounces, weight Refried Beans
- 8 ounces, fluid Canned Tomato Sauce
- 16 ounces, weight Canned Diced Tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon Chopped Hot Red Pepper (this Can Be Left Out If Desired)
- 3 Tablespoons Chili Powder
- 1/8 teaspoons Black Pepper
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Molasses
- 1/2 cups Water
- Brown beef (or hamburger) with onions in a Dutch oven; pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Cover and simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
- If you prefer to cook this in a slow cooker, brown the beef and onion then mix all ingredients in the slow cooker (I prefer calling it a crock pot) and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- This can be made vegetarian-style by not including the beef and using vegetarian refried beans. Delicious!
- Note: if 3 tablespoons of chili powder is just too hot, then reduce it to 1 tablespoon.
