Spicy Oatmeal Cookies(From The Files Of Ola Dortch Williams)
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- 1 c. dry rolled oats
- 1 c. Gladiola flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. nut meats
- 1/2 c. raisins
- Beat the egg and add the sugar and milk.
- Mix well and add the rolled oats.
- Sift the Gladiola once and measure, then add the spices the soda and the baking powder.
- Sift the dry ingredients into the first mixture and blend well.
- Melt the butter or other shortening and add it, then the chopped nuts and the raisins. Drop the mixture onto a well-greased baking sheet or pie pan with a teaspoon and bake in hot oven for about 15 minutes.
- The cookies will spread slightly in baking, so place them well apart on the sheet.
- This recipe makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
