Berry Wine Ice Cream Sauce
- 1 quart Fresh Strawberries
- 6 ounces, weight Fresh Blueberries
- 6 ounces, weight Fresh Raspberries
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cups Water
- 1/2 whole Lemon
- 2 Tablespoons Red Wine
- 1/2 teaspoons Orange Or Tangelo Zest
- Rinse the berries.
- Cut the strawberries into quarters and add them to a medium size bowl. Add the blueberries and raspberries to the same bowl and set aside.
- Add the sugar and water to a medium size saucepan. Heat the saucepan over a medium low heat until sugar is dissolved. Then add the berries to the saucepan and stir.
- Then, add the lemon juice from 1/2 of a lemon, wine, and zest. Stir all of the ingredients together. Continue stirring as the sauce thickens. It takes about 10 minutes for the sauce to thicken.
- Pour the sauce into a container (a mason jar works well) and store in the refrigerator.
- Serve the warm berry wine sauce over ice cream.
- For a taste of chocolate, add some chocolate sauce over the vanilla ice cream before adding the berry wine sauce.
