Broccoli-Onion Bake

  1. Cook and drain broccoli.
  2. Cook and drain onions.
  3. (Cook each in boiling salted water until tender.)
  4. In saucepan, melt half the margarine. Blend in flour, salt and a dash of pepper.
  5. Add milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Reduce heat. Blend in cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Put vegetables in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  7. Pour sauce mixture over.
  8. Mix slightly.
  9. Top with shredded cheese.
  10. Mix the remaining butter (melted) with the bread crumbs. Sprinkle on top of casserole.
  11. Bake at 350u0b0 about 45 minutes. Serves 6.
