Festive Rice Krispy Treats

  1. Line a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with foil. Grease foil with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons of the butter over medium heat. When butter is completely melted, add marshmallows and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are almost melted. Add the last tablespoon of butter and continue to cook and stir until mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  3. Remove pan from heat and add the cereal and the chopped cherries. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Pour into the prepared pan and press mixture evenly into the bottom of the pan. (Put a piece of wax paper between your hands and the mixture or spray your hands with cooking spray to keep them from sticking to the mixture.) If desired, press cherry halves into the mixture, spacing them a couple of inches apart. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
