Southern Biscuits

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm buttermilk; set aside.
  2. Sift together the flour, salt, soda and sugar.
  3. Cut margarine into dry ingredients.
  4. Add buttermilk-yeast mixture; stir until well blended.
  5. Knead and roll out to 1/4-inch thick.
  6. Cut with biscuit cutter.
  7. Spray pan with Pam.
  8. Place biscuits on baking pan so they are touching each other.
  9. Brush tops with melted butter.
  10. Place another biscuit on top of buttered biscuit.
  11. Brush top with butter.
  12. Let rise at room temperature 1 hour.
  13. Bake at 425u0b0 for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  14. Makes about 2 dozen.
