Shanghai Casserole
- 1/2 lb. boneless pork and 1/2 lb. veal, cut in small thin strips
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 pkg. brown gravy mix
- 3 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces (undrained)
- 1 (1 lb.) can chow mein vegetables (undrained)
- 1 1/2 c. sliced celery
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 4 to 5 c. chow mein noodles
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Coat meat in flour.
- Brown meat in oil in large skillet.
- Add gravy mix, soy sauce, mushrooms and liquid from chow mein vegetables.
- Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
- Add celery, onion and chow mein vegetables.
- Cover and simmer 10 to 15 minutes longer until vegetables are tender.
- Pour into shallow casserole; arrange noodles around edge.
- Serve.
