Croutons De Provence
- 1 loaf Stale French Or Sourdough Bread
- 6 cloves Fresh Garlic
- 2 Tablespoons Or So Dried Herbes De Provence (Crushed Up A Bit In Your Hand)
- 1 pinch (Generous Pinch) Kosher Salt And Fresh Ground Black Pepper
- Olive Oil
- Find a good bakery and get yourself a nice loaf of French or sour dough bread. Get it home and cut it into bite-sized pieces (I leave some a bit larger for snacking). Put the pieces in a large sheet pan and set aside.
- Give your garlic cloves a good bash with your knife, then throw them in the pan with the bread, peel and all.
- Sprinkle the bread and garlic with the salt, pepper and herbes de Provence. Drizzle olive oil over everything and toss lightly with your hands.
- Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for about 20 minutes. Shake the pan a bit, then bake for an additional 10 to 20 minutes or until your cubes are golden brown.
- Discard the garlic cloves and let cool. Store in an airtight container until ready to use. I eat them alone as a snack, top a bowl of butternut squash or tomato soup with them, or in a salad dressed simply with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
